Sustainability

ENVIRONMENTAL PRACTICES

Paresa is passionate about its commitment to the environment and its support to the community in which we live and work. We recognize that only through constant monitoring, while at the same time always looking for new innovative ways to improve and enrich everyone’s experiences in a sustainable and responsible manner, can we become truly successful. We have made great inroads and are happy to announce in 2020, a range of new initiatives listed below.

PARESA COMMITS TO A PLASTIC FREE “PHUKET PLEDGE” FUTURE

The Phuket Pledge is an agreement to reducing, reusing and recycling single-use plastic in Phuket, with the aim to eradicate it in all hotels and resorts. In addition, the stakeholders vowed to undertake a youth community education programme to ensure grassroots awareness of the critical problems surrounding plastic usage on the island. Paresa has devoted to replacing items of plastic with more sustainable choices every year. As part of our drive towards a plastic-free environment, we encourage all guests to bring their own personal care products, such as toothbrushes and combs. “We need to fight for Phuket, and we can’t do it alone. We need to do it together.”

PARESA INITIATIVES

Water Plant:

Plastic bottles are out. Instead, our resort has invested in our own water producing plant to treat, purify and mineralise all our own drinking water.  Glass bottles are now provided in guest rooms and are provided on a complimentary basis.

Plastics:

Straws are gone, bathroom amenities have been changed and we are working with our food suppliers who now deliver fresh produce in reusable containers and not plastic bags.

In-room Shower Gels etc

Disposable plastic bottles are out and have been replaced with refillable pumps providing shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, and body cream.

Composting:

A composting site has been built where organic waste is deposited and with help from our resident worms, provide a rich and fertile compost. The by-product wastewater from the earthworm farm also serves as a nutrient-rich fertilizer for the gardens.

Charitable:

Paresa supports the Good Shepherd Phuket Town a local charity supporting a range of community projects. The hand bar soap you use in the rooms for example supports which assists, educates, and houses disadvantaged and orphaned children. We donate toys, clothing, and supplies to the children. Those who wish to contribute to their cause are welcome to place a donation at our reception.

From our on-site wastewater treatment plant, to simply recycling as much of our rubbish as possible, our staff are knowledgeable and are encouraged to find new ways that we can better protect our guests’ experience and the resort. We welcome any suggestions from our guests to help us achieve our goal.

Paresa has been recognised in the Responsible Thailand 2021 Awards for our sustainability policies and the support of the local community.
